Polka Dot Surprise Cake Tutorial

polka dot cake

While polka dots appear on almost everything, they could also be in many things that we eat, especially cakes.

Cakes could have polka dots inside when we cut them or could also show outside on the cake’s look.

The tutorial for both has been given here. So let’s start!

1. Hidden Polka Dots Cake

Things you need:

  • Round cake balls mould tray

  • 2 Cake mixes

  • Color soft gel pastes

  • Baking spray

  • Baking moulds

Procedure

First, you need to make use of the round cake balls tray and make the batter using cake mix by using half of the color gels in them. You could choose any colors and remove the extra bit off the balls tray to bake them.

Once they are baked, just trim off the extras and put it aside.

Now take the other baking moulds and line them with baking spray again (so that they don’t stick) and make your batter following the cake mix instructions.

Next put in half of the batter into the moulds and then put in your colorful balls in them.

Lastly cover the balls with the remaining batter and put in the oven as directed.

Now when you cut through the cake, the slice shall show the beautiful colored polka dots inside!

2. Show Off Polka Dots Cake

Things you need:

  • 3 cake mixes

  • Color soft gel pastes

  • Baking spray or sheet

  • Baking moulds

  • 2 frosting or 4 vanilla butter-cream recipe

  • Parched paper sheet

  • Round sprinkles (colorful)

Procedure

Take out one cake mix and follow the instructions to make the batter but divide it into as many colors that you want to add and follow the same whole procedure like the one given above till the balls are covered up in another half of batter and baked enough.

After the cake is baked and cooled enough, take out your vanilla cream or frosting and start placing over it to level it properly.

You could also cut the cakes in between and add frosting layers in between too.

Now let the cake freeze for about 20 minutes at least.

While the cake is freezing, you should take your parchment paper and make some big circles on it randomly. Now cut out these circles and do away with them so you have a paper full of circular holes in it.

After the cake is frozen, take it out and place the paper on each side of the cake to stick it almost with the cream.

Next, you can take the colorful sprinkles and pour on where the cake is peeking from each circle. Fill up all the circles and then carefully take out the parchment paper.

The cake is as splendid as you imagined and when you cut out a piece, there are polka dots inside as well as outside. --- Both these tricks could be used in white cakes as well as chocolate cakes to make your polka surprise even richer in taste and beautiful in looks at the same time.
